Odisha's IIIT Flouted Admission Norms Opeca

BHUBANESWAR:
The Odisha Private Engineering College Association (Opeca) on Wednesday alleged that state-run technical institute International Institute of Information and Technology (IIIT), Bhubaneswar, completed the admission to BTech course much before JEE (Main) rank has been published.

"This is illegal. IIIT has diluted the admission rules by considering only the JEE (Main) score and not the rank during admission," said secretary of Opeca Binod Dash. JEE (main) rank is declared after giving 40% weightage to Plus II marks and 60% weightage to JEE (Main) score. But IIIT has ignored Plus II marks for the admissions, in violation of Supreme Court rulings.

IIIT Bhubaneswar director G K Nayak said, "We have not anything illegal. We have university status and have followed the same process as IIIT Hyderabad and Bangalore." Tnn OPECA also alleged that IIIT has started MTech course without approval from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and accreditation from National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
