The Delhi Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (DIHM&CT), has been a center for excellence & a lively testament to the commitment for the hospitality education. Itis the metamorphosis of Food Craft institute. Originally established in 1983 by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with the Government of Delhi for training in trades & crafts in hotel & catering operations. The Institute made a humble beginning from a portion of the Polytechnic building at Kashmere Gate, Delhiand has made a long journey till the shifting of the premise at Lajpat Nagar churning out trained manpower all through. The growing need of manpower in hotel industry and growth of the hospitality and allied services necessitated up gradation of Food Crafts Institute to a full- fledged Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in1999.

 

Since then the Institute has been training future hospitality professionals and catering to the rising demands in various fields like – hotels, aviation, hospitals, travel and tourism, restaurant and bars, fast food joints etc. At DIHM courses encompass of both practical and theoretical knowledge of every phase of Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management starting from B Sc to short Diplomas and various skill enhancement programs. It also offers various tailor made programes created as per the requirement of variousagencies. The institute is jointly sponsored by, Ministry of tourism Government of India and Government of Delhi It is headed by a Board of Governors consisting of eminent persons from government and industry. This institute is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management, New Delhi, which is apex body to control and conduct examination.

Several factors such as the development of travel and transportation system, increasing industrialization, the tempo at which business is transacted, the need to maintain a personal touch, rising levels of discretionary income has led to the growth of the hospitality industry. Today tourism is recognized as the largest economic activity in the world and is expected to grow further giving rise to high demand of trained professionals.

 

Delhi Institute of Hotel Management has over the years built a good reputation in the Industry due to some good work done in the Industry by its ex-students who have passed out and are working at respectable positions in the Industry.

Eligibility:

 

For B.Sc HHA:

  • A pass in 10+2 system of senior secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one the subjects. Candidates must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination.
  • Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand canceled if proven of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counseling or at the time of admission or latest by 30th September.
  • The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/documents at the time of admission. If any candidate is found in-eligible at a later date even after admission to an institute, his/her admission will stand cancelled.

For PGDAO:

  • Minimum qualification: Graduation in any stream, maximum age as on 1 july, should be 25 years.

For Diploma:

  • Class 10th of 10+2 or equivalent with English as compulsory Subject
