Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology(CIPET), Admission open-2018About Us :

Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET) was established in 1968 by Government of India with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) assistance at Chennai. The main objective of setting up of the institute was to develop manpower in different disciplines of Plastics Engineering & Technology as no similar institute was in existence in the country. International Labour Organization (ILO) served as the executing agency. During the initial project period between 1968 and 1973, the institute achieved the targets envisaged and was rated as one of the most successful UNDP projects implemented worldwide. Today CIPET is a premier national institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India fully devoted to Academic, Technology Support Services and Research & Development (ATR). CIPET operates on hub & spokes model with 28 locations - 5 High Learning Centres, 12 Other Learning Centres, 3 Specialized Centres, 2 R & D Wings, 5 Vocational Training Centre, 1 Petrochemical Data Services spread across the length & breadth of the country catering to the needs of Polymer and allied industries.

CIPET renders Technology Support Service in the areas of design, tooling, plastics processing and testing and quality assurance in India and abroad. CIPET has been in the forefront of strengthening the technological capabilities and has been constantly building capacities and leveraging its expertise, caliber and skill sets to meet the emerging and evolving needs of the industries.CIPET works in close junction with industries to implement its initiatives in the areas of Polymer and allied industries in accordance with the environmental policies of the country. CIPET's sustained efforts in creating awareness on environmental issues towards plastics and plastics waste management has been well received by the industry.

Training and Placement :

Training Programs : Skills & Knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development. Countries with higher & better levels of skills adjust more effectively to the challenges and opportunities of globalisation. The shortage of skilled labour across many industries is emerging as a significant and complex challenge to India's future growth. The demand for skilled individuals in both the private as well as the public sector in India is growing exponentially in this era of economic growth and investment. There is a growing need to increase employability through skill development programmes as evidenced by strong market linkages, institute industry coordination, specialised skill development, continuation of learning, etc. The National Policy on Skill Development formulated by the Government of India aims to create a workforce empowered with improved skills, knowledge and internationally recognized qualifications to gain access to decent employment and ensure India's competitiveness in the dynamic Global Labour mark

Placement : CIPET courses are highly recognised by Polymer industry fraternity across the country and known for its quality. The courses are offered with a perfect blend of theory and hands on practical sessions with exposure on state-of-art equipments and machineries. Our statistics shows that as high as 80% of the students are absorbed in various reputed plastics and allied industries and out of the remaining 20%, 5% turn into entrepreneurs and balance 15% pursue higher studies.
