Academically sound students have year after year bagged gold medals at the University Examinations. Many of Silicon Alumni have been successful in All India Examinations such as GATE. Enthusiastic faculty members have had success in both academic pursuits and industrial collaboration. Here is a glimpse of the achievements of the Institute in multifarious activities as a centre for learning, as an active participant in industry as well as in nonacademic pursuits such as blood donation and tree plantation.

Academic infrastructure:

Physical infrastructure consists of spacious lecture halls, multimedia classrooms, tutorial rooms, well-equipped laboratories, seminar hall, air- conditioned conference hall, automated central library, digital library, language laboratory and campus with high-speed Internet connectivity. The academic objectives are achieved through regular classroom delivery, on-line course delivery and e-learning. Digital course materials from NPTEL in various courses have been uploaded into the institute. This serves as an extra learning resource for the students besides the classroom notes and handouts.

Central Library : The Silicon library is housed in a large hall of 17000 sq.ft. and is the centre of intellectual activities. It receives special attention and importance in the scheme of development of the institute. It has well over 60800+ books and subscribes to many important journals, national and international. The library remains open throughout the week. Students can issue books from the library under three different schemes. They are (a) Regular issue, (b) Book Bank issue and (c) Overnight issue. In addition to that Silicon has formed a privileged group known as Scholars Club and Campus Connect. The members of Scholars Club can issue additional books from the library depending on the availability. There is a reference section for faculty members and students for internal reading only. The total collection in the reference section is over 5000+ books. The library provides non-book materials like CDs, DVDs and e-journals. The library subscribes to more than 60 different journals and magazines. It has a sitting cubicle capacity of 216 at a time.

Transport : (Silicon Rider): To make it convenient for the local students our fleet of buses ply all major streets of Bhubaneswar. Six other vehicles for the employees of Silicon are also available. Students and staff members may hire a vehicle for their personal use such as picnic, wedding or visiting places at a reasonable price.
