Mahavir Institute of engineering & Technology (MIET) established in the year 2001 is spread over a sprawling 102 Acre Campus in an eco-friendly environment and amid the sparkling beauty of nature.  Eligibility :

B.Tech :

• Passed 10+2 Science or its equivalent examination in a single sitting with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics group from a recognized institute.
• Must have qualified OJEE/AIEEE

B.Tech(Lateral) :

• Diploma holders securing 60% marks in one attempt are eligible to take admission in 2nd year directly if they qualify in J.E.E conducted separately for lateral entry.

Fee Structure :

• Since this is a self-financing Institute the students taking admission in this institute are required to pay fees as prescribed by the Government Fees Structure Committee.

Admission Procedure :

Admission to B.Tech programme is in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Biju Pattnaik University of Technology and as per the norms and practice of Govt of Orissa (J.E.E. rules).

Facilities :

Hostel : The institute has cozy home-like separate hostels for boys and girls with all modern amenities like bed, table, chair, electrical fittings, 24 hours water supply, TV sets, and recreation hall with facilities for indoor games. The computer centre and library hall are kept open for the residents of the hostels too.The Hostel facility is not mandatory and is available to students on written request.The student has to fill in the application form and also give an undertaking in writing that he/she will abide by the Hostel Rules. Membership shall be terminated automatically at the end of each academic year. Students, who are desirous of returning to the Hostel, shall make a fresh application for readmission in the beginning of 2nd / 3rd year.

Canteen : Mahavir Institute of Engineering and Technology has a well-maintained canteen which brings refreshments for the students. The canteen caters to all aspects of foods.The college provides a healthy environment in the canteen and makes sure that quality food is served at reasonable price. The canteen helps the students refresh themselves with snacks to meal.The working of the canteen is strictly monitored to adhere to acceptable standards of hygiene .

Transport :  The institution has its own fleet of buses to meet the transport needs of students and staff to commute to the campus from the various parts of the city at nominal cost fixed by the management.

Training and Placement Cell :

This cell bridges the gap that currently exists between the Industry and fresh professionals for recruitment purposes. It organizes campus interviews for better placements and coordinates Industrial Training for 2nd and 3rd year students.

The functions of the Training & Placement section are given below :

• Liaison with different organizations for recruitment and Industrial Training
• Regular visits to end communication with industries : Placement Cell is developing close contacts with employer organization by making regular visits to them and by having an efficient Communication through email, fax and telephone
• Guest Lectures : To provide a feel of industry and job market, placement cell is coordinating with departments to invite various eminent persons from industry to deliver guest lectures for the benefit of the students
• Campus Interviews : Placement unit is responsible for motivating the employer organizations to held campus interviews for selection of our final year students
• Database of students/Alumni and Employers : Training & Placement cell is maintaining an up-to-date computerized database of students and employers . This is helping in providing ready information to both job seekers and job providers
• Placement Notice Board : Different press clippings regarding placement or admission notice are being displayed regularly for the information of students.
• Internet facilities for Placement : Training & Placement Cell has prepared a web page of its own to put the bio-data of students on net so that any one around the globe can contact them for employment. At the same time the students are allowed to contact the potential employers for job purposes
• Placement Cell : is providing the feedback of industry to the teaching departments regarding the current industry needs. It is helping them updating the courses on a regular basis according to the needs of the job market
• Visits : Taking students to various industrial Visits for exposure and awareness of ground realities. This in besides the specified training period in the industry as a part of the curriculum
