RIMS established in the year 1984, has taken great strides since its inception, becoming one of the premier B-school of the country. It is governed by a governing body, consisting of distinguished industrialists, businessmen, academicians and professionals.The institute is situated in a scenic and serene campus that provides a conducive environment for personal and intellectual growth. It has an atmosphere, which drives away the feeling of anonymity and isolation. Students are given all encouragement in their areas of interest, by providing a hi-tech infrastructure facility, backed by faculty support.

RIMS is affiliated to Sambalpur University, Orissa, Biju Pattnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, Orissa, for different programmes and follows the curriculum prescribed by the respective Universities for each of its courses. It has got NBA AICTE Accreditation and ISO 9001-2000 certification from RWTUV Germany.

Infrastructure :

Classroom : RIMS students work and live in a wired environment. The institute's facilities include wired classroom conferencing and high-speed data communication networks. The classrooms are equipped with the most contemporary teaching facilities, which make learning a complete experience. The classrooms are spacious, ventilated and equipped with multimedia and audiovisual equipments to facilitate effective learning. The classrooms are designed to provide maximum interaction between the faculty and students.

Library : The Central Library RIMS (CLR), has a comprehensive source of books, periodicals and journals, CDs - both Indian and International. It is the heart of academic activities at RIMS with an aim of providing "Anytime, Anywhere Access to Information". The CLR supports in building RIMS, as a management institution of national repute.

IT Infrastructure : IT is informative and entertaining through comprehensive state-of-the-art technology in the Computer Centre

Communication Lab : RIMS offers an unique opportunity to it's students to learn SPOKEN ENGLISH .For this it has a sophisticated ENGLISH COMMUNICATION LAB equipped with LINGUAPHONE MACHINES(U .K.based company) and study materials.A 29"T.V. SET,LCD,digital camera,etc ensure that students are exposed to cross-cultural communication ,good accent and impressive style which are pre-requisites for a good career.

Sports : In spite of the tough and demanding curriculum, sports and extra-curricular activities are carried out as a regular feature in this Institute and students participate and perform well in the state level cultural and sport competitions e.g. Athletic Meets and the state level tournaments of various games and other literary activities like Quiz-contest, & Declamation Contest etc. Sports and cultural activities are part & parcel of campus life at RIMS. There are many facilities for the students to engage themselves in extra-curricular activities.

Hostel : The Institute recognizes that a major concern to all students and parents is the availability and quality of accommodation and food. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. There are fully furnished separate hostels (having 2-seated and single seated rooms); for boys and & girls. The rooms are spacious, well furnished, self-contained and duly maintained.

Eligibility :

MBA : Pass in the Bachelor's Degree examination of three years duration in any discipline from any university of Orissa or equivalent recognized by UGC. There is no age limit to for admission to MBA course.There is no age limit to for admission to MBA course.

MCA :

• Passed or appearing for the Bachelors Degree examination of minimum three years duration in any discipline from any University of Odisha or from a recognized University as defined by UGC and must have passed in Mathematics at intermediate level or at Graduate Level. Business Mathematics at intermediate level are not permitted.
• For admission into Master in Computer Application under Lateral Entry to 2nd year: Passed or appearing for the Bachelors Degree examination of minimum three years duration in BCA, B. Sc IT or Computer Science from any University of Odisha or from a recognized University as defined by UGC and must have passed in Mathematics as a course at intermediate level or at Graduate Level. Business Mathematics at intermediate level are not permitted.
• The candidate should have obtained at least 50 percent 45 percent in case of candidate belonging to SC and ST category at the qualifying Examination.
• There is no age limit to for admission to MCA course.

Admission Procedure:

MBA : The admission into MBA programme at RIMS is through Joint Entrance Examination conducted by State Government of Orissa and Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi.

MCA : The admission into MCA programme at RIMS is through Joint Entrance Examination conducted by State Government of Odisha.

Training and Placement Cell :

The Training & Placement section endeavors to provide career planning and job seeking assistance to students. It is a full-fledged Training & Placement Section with a Professor-in-charge of it. In addition to facilitating summer placement, the T&P section organizes programmes on campus interviews like group discussions case studies, mock interviews etc.

Objectives :  

• Maintain good liaison with industry in and around the place where the Institute is located.
• Keep a watch on the job requirements in the industries and research and service organizations.
• Organize campus recruitment, in-plant training and get industries - sponsored projects (for the final year students and staff) for mutual benefit.
• Maintain information of personnel who are experts in their respective fields from industries and research/service organizations for inviting them to the Institute for delivering lectures for the benefit of the students and also the staff.
• Arrange for training of the staff, as and when required, in industries and research/service organizations.
• Maintain a data bank of the alumni who are placed in reputed industries and research/services organizations.
• Help in organizing industrial training and field/industrial visits for the students.
• Render assistance to students in getting apprenticeship training for future placements in industries.
