About Us:

 

Beant College of Engineering & Technology, Gurdaspur was established by the Govt. of Punjab as an autonomous Institution through registered society. The foundation stone was laid on February 28,1994 and the college was inaugurated on August 20,1995 by the Chief Minister Late Sardar Beant Singh Ji. The college campus including the instructional buildings, amenties, residential and other facilities is spread over 70 acres of Land. The college is imparting instructions in the Engineering disciplines of Bio Technology, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology & Mechanical Engineering at under graduate level and Thermal Engineering, Production Engineering , Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering at Post graduate level. The college has made tremendous progress as under.

 

In the year 1995 only 3 B.Tech. disciplines i.e. Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Production Engineering were started with a total intake of 120 students. Then in the year 1996, seats were increased and one more discipline of Chemical Engineering were added. Then in the year 1997, one more discipline of Electronics & Communications Engineering was added. Then in the year 2001, one more discipline of Information Technology was added and the total intake became 300. then in the year 2003, Two M.Tech course namely Production Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering under Regional centre of P.T.U. Jalandhar were started. Then in the year 2006, seats were increased and new course of Bio Technology was added and total intake was increased to 370. Then in the year 2007, one M.Tech in Thermal Engineering was added sanctioned by AICTE directly to the college. In 2008, seats of Computer Science and Engg. were increased to 90 and seats of Chemical Engg. were decreased to 30. Therefore at present the seats/discipline position is as under

Library: The Central Library was set up in 1995 in the Science Block of the college.It is now shifted to auditorium building. Ever Since its inception the Library is playing a vital role enourging self learning supplementing academics, boosting research and development activities and promoting consultancy activities. It has the floor area of 480sq. Meter and the seating capacity of 110 readers in the reading halls. Library follows the open access system. It facilitates the users to browse and pick up the document of their choice without any hindrance.

Dispensary: The college has a dispensary to provide medical facilities under the guidance and observance of a qualified doctor, Staff Nurse, pharmacist & Medical Attendant. The dispensary provides medical aid to both students and staff. The dispensary of the college is well equipped, the various equipments in the health centre include Oxygen cylinder, Digital thermometer, Sterilizer, Auto Clave, Dressing drum, Weight measuring machine, Glucometer, B.P. Apparatus, patient bed, stretcher, screen etc. Tata Sumo jeep is available to carry serious patients for consulting doctors in various hospital.

 

Training & Placement:

 

The College has full-fledged Training and Placement Cell equipped with all modern facilities for dovetailing our students’ career aspirations with corporate expectations and to build strong industry interface and enhance industry interactions. A dedicated team of faculty members of various disciplines having good academic and industrial exposure organizes the cell’s activities.

 

Students' Team for Placement Cell: The students' team consists of two members from each discipline who are selected voluntarily. The task of team members is to assist the staff in the smooth functioning of T&P activities of any kind. This includes coordinating with companies during their PPTs and recruitment processes.

 

Objectives of the Training & Placement Cell

  • The primary objectives are:
  • To arrange various training programs for the students as per the University curriculum requirement.
  • To assist the students for placement in reputed companies through in-campus and joint campus placement programs.
  • To arrange various Seminars/ Expert lectures/ Career awareness program etc. to prepare the students for facing the interviews.
  • Apart from this the Cell is actively involved in:
  • Enhancing industry-institute interaction program through various industrial visits of faculty members and the students.
  • Conducting Alumni activities like organizing annual Alumni meet regularly.
  • Conducting Entrepreneurship awareness programs for final and pre-final year students
