Bearys Enviro-Architecture Design School (BEADS) is the high point of over 100 years of my family’s interest, involvement and passion for excellence in education . From its very inception, The Bearys Group has believed that Triple E: entrepreneurship, education, the environment, and by extension, architecture are contiguous. My vision is that, “Nature must inspire our architecture, and education must inspire our young minds to become entrepreneurs of sustainable architecture”. We are what our buildings say about us. Like Winston Churchill has succinctly said, “We shape our buildings, thereafter they shape us.” How we design, the materials we use, the spaces we occupy, their impact on our lives and well-being, the energy we consume, all define our present and predicate our future.Through BEADS, we endeavor to make quality education in architecture more inclusive, accessible and affordable. We have intentionally located BEADS in Mangalore, an established educational hub and an emerging South Indian metropolis that is experiencing a surge in building and construction activity. Our budding architects will have ample opportunities to put their academic knowledge into practice through workshops, internships, industry-academic partnerships.

While I believe we need to offer our students everything from engineering and structural design, to building and project management, to graphics and design, and also inculcate business acumen, we must strongly emphasize sustainable architecture as the long term vision and goal of this institution. Eligibility :

No candidate, with less than 50% marks in aggregate, shall be admitted to the architecture course unless he/ she has passed an examination at the end of the new 10+2 scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics and English as subjects of examination at the 10+2 level and minimum 40% marks in Aptitude Test (NATA).

Or

10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/ State Governments with 50% aggregate marks and minimum 40% marks in Aptitude Test (NATA).

Or

International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination and minimum 40% marks in Aptitude Test (NATA).

Facilities : The Profession and Education of Architecture in India is regulated by the Council of Architecture, a national statutory body, and followed by the various Universities & Schools of Architecture across the country. Architectural Education in India is a 5-year exercise involving nearly 20 mandatory subject streams (with subjects of various breadths) to be studied, exposure to nearly as many 'optional electives' some of whom enrich and some which serve as pre-specializations, and about a year of 'Practical Training', the compressed avatar of the apprenticeship. Typically the early years focus on skill building and knowledge sharing, while the later years focus on application of the knowledge with the skills, and thereon to further exposure & specialization.
