Eligibility:

 

For B.E: Admission to undergraduate programmes in engineering shall be open to candidates who have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th standard or equivalent examination recognized by AICTE and State Government in Physics and Mathematics subjects along with Chemistry / Electronics / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study. Students must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC). The candidate must have also qualified in one of the following entrance exams: CET/ COMED-K / JEE / AIEEE.

For M.Tech: Admission to M.Tech programmes shall be open to candidates who have passed the Bachelor’s Degree examinations with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of all the semesters of the degree examinations (45% for SC/ST candidates belonging to Karnataka). The candidate shall have passed Bachelor’s Degree as per the requirements and must have also taken at least one of the prescribed qualifying examinations

 

For MBA: Admission to the MBA programme shall be open to candidates who have passed the Bachelor’s Degree examinations with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of all the semesters of the degree examinations (45% for SC/ST candidates belonging to Karnataka). The candidate must have also taken at least one of the prescribed qualifying examinations: CMAT/ CAT/ MAT/ PGCET/KMAT etc.

 

For MCA: Admission to MCA course shall be open to candidates who have passed the Bachelor’s Degree examinations with not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations (45% for SC/ST candidates belonging to Karnataka). The candidate shall have passed Bachelor degree with not less than 50% of marks in Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science / Computer Programming / Computer Applications / Business Mathematics/ Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects or electives at Degree Level. In the case of candidates belonging to SC / ST and Cat-I, 45% of marks in that subject shall be considered for Admission.

 

In addition, the candidate must have also taken at least one of the following entrance exams: PGCET / KMAT, etc.

 

For M.Sc: The candidates pursuing M.Sc. (Engg.) Degree by Research at the University, who have successfully completed the prescribed coursework in the first two semesters of study with outstanding merit of either a minimum CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 or 70% aggregate marks and published research papers in refereed journals or filed/obtained patents shall be eligible for upgradation to the M.Sc. (Engg.) + Ph. D Integrated Dual Degree programme, subject to approval by the Admissions Committee.

 

For Diploma Holders: Diploma Holders in engineering with a minimum of 50% marks in the final examination, conducted by the Board of Technical Examination, Government of Karnataka or its equivalent, are eligible for admission to the corresponding branch of Second Year engineering. Candidates must take the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the CET Cell, Govt. of Karnataka. Seats will be allotted during the centralized counseling process conducted by the CET Cell.

 

Admission Process:

 

For B.E: Students who wish to seek admission to the various undergraduate programmes in engineering at CMR Institute of Technology may do so via one of the following processes:

  • Common Entrance Test (CET) and Selection Process
  • COMEDK and Selection Process
  • Management Admission Process

For MTech: Students who wish to seek admission to CMRIT’s Post Graduate Programmes in engineering may do so through (1) Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) and Selection Process or (2) Management Admission Process.

Placement:

 

Each year, we invite our industry partners  and other reputed organizations to the college campus to participate in the placement process for both Undergraduate (6th Semester) and Postgraduate (3rd Semester) programmes. Each student receives placement guidelines and rules from the placements office and must adhere to the process. Visiting companies on-campus/off-campus will interact with the eligible students directly during pre-placement talks (PPT). During these sessions, they will provide overviews of the job profiles, job descriptions, compensation, company’s expectations and other specific requirements. Students will participate in the interview process specific to the visiting company (Example: Written test(s) / Group Discussion(s) / Presentations / Technical Interviews / Personal Interviews). Shortlisted students will be notified if they receive an offer. Students should remain in constant touch with the placements office even after receiving an offer. Faculty placement co-ordinators and companies will ensure that post-offer criteria and requirements are adhered to.
