About Us:

 

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology (CIT) runs under the auspices of Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Rural Education Society (CRED Society). The society was established in 2000 under the Chairmanship of Sri G.S.Basavaraj, the honourable Member of Parliament from Tumkur with a vision to create centres of excellence in education and other related fields and to serve the society to enhance the quality of life through excellence and leadership in professionally relevant education.

 

CIT was established in the year 2001 with the objective of providing quality technical education. The institute is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Recognized by Government of Karnataka. The institute is ISO 9001:2008 Certified and Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The Institute is located near Gubbi, Tumkur, ~ 80 KM from Bangalore on National Highway 206. The Campus spreads across 60 Acres of lush green land with beautiful landscaping. The area enjoys pleasant atmosphere throughout the year. Students and staff adore the meticulously maintained campus and welcoming natural surroundings which itself is an inspiration to learn and excel. Eligibility:

 

For B.E: Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the four year B.E., degree should have passed the two years of pre-university examinations (Physics, Mathematics and any one of Chemistry / Biology / Computer Science as optional subjects) conducted by the Pre-University Board of Karnataka State or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Visvesvaraya Technological University and should have obtained not less than 45% marks in the optional subjects.  Candidates seeking admission to second year of the four year B.E., degree must have passed the three year Diploma course conducted by the Board of Technical Examination of Karnataka Government in the respective Branches/Courses or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Visvesvaraya Technological University. In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST & Category I/II/III (Karnataka students only), the minimum percentage of marks shall not be less than 40% in the optional subjects as per rules. Admissions will be according to reservation policy of the State Government.      

 

The eligibility criteria mentioned above may change from time to time. The candidates seeking admission are required to check the eligibility criteria before seeking admission.

 

For M.Tech: Admission to the Master of Technology (M.Tech.) course shall be open to all the candidates who have passed B.E., / B.Tech. Examinations (in relevant field) of VTU or any other University / Institution or any other examinations recognized as equivalent thereto.   Admission to M.Tech. Course shall be open to the candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examinations with not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations. However, in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and Group I, the aggregate percentage of marks in the qualifying examinations shall not be less than 45%.

 

FOR MBA:

  • Admission is open to the Master of Business Administration course, to all the candidates who possess a Bachelor’s Degree recognized by VTU or who have passed any other examination recognized by VTU as equivalent there to.
  • The candidates shall have passed the prescribed qualifying examinations with not less than 50% of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations. However, in the case of candidate belonging to SC/ST and any other groups classified by the Government of Karnataka for such purpose from time to time the aggregate percentage of marks in the qualifying examinations shall not be less than 45%.
  • Government seats and Management seats in colleges shall be filled as per the Government order issued from time to time in this regard. 

Note:  An Eligibility certificate issued by their respective institute is a must for students applying for admission from outside Karnataka.

 

Admissions Process:

 

For B.E: Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) of Govt. of Karnataka administers under-graduate admission for the qualifying students.

 

For M.Tech: All post-graduate admissions are made through one of the common entrance tests for (PGCET/GATE)

 

For MBA:  (PGCET/KMAT/MAT).

 

Note:  An Eligibility certificate issued by their respective institute is a must for students applying for admission from outside Karnataka.

 

Facilities:

 

Library : A spacious and well stacked Learning Resource Centre is available to the staff & students, consisting of a large collection of books pertaining to Engineering, Management & Applied Sciences. The collection is continuously updated to cater the growing needs of faculty and students. Various technical journals are subscribed for the benefit of the students & faculty. Online access to e-resources has been set-up via IP enabling. The reading section of the library, with subscription to many periodicals, is kept open for staff and students even after normal working hours.

 

Hostel : CIT runs separate hostels for boys & girls. The boys-hostel is located on-campus while the girls-hostel is located off-campus. The hostels are managed by a warden assisted by a deputy warden residing within the hostel premises. All the hostel rooms are well furnished and healthy food is served. The students are strictly expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the hostels. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Any deviation from the rules and regulations will result in disciplinary action which may include expulsion from the institute.

 

Transportation : The Institute owns several buses that operate from various parts of the city to the campus for the benefit of staff and students. At present, there are 26 buses dedicated for transportation. The buses pick up students and staff from several centralized locations in the city close to many residential neighbourhoods. Students and staff are utilizing the precious commute time to discuss/debate various topics ranging from current news, academics, research and project work.

 

Placement:

 

Training & Placements: Pre-placement Training is imparted to all the students, as part of the curriculum. Workshops and seminars by experts are arranged on regular basis. This way the strength of the students is upgraded to ensure that they face the challenges of the competitive world.

The placement cell at CIT assists students develop/clarify their academic and career interests, and their short and long-term goals through individual counseling and group sessions. This cell works with faculty members, department heads and administration to integrate career planning and academic curriculum as well as coordinate Project Work/ Summer Training/internship programs. They provide resources and activities to facilitate the career planning process of students. In a nut shell the placement cell empower students with life-long career decision-making skills.
