Jan Nayak Chaudhry Devi Lal Dental College, Sirsa is one of the premier Dental institutes in the Country duly recognized by Dental Council of India & Academic Affiliation to Pt. B.D. Admissions in BDS, course are made every year on the basis of merit in all India Premedical and Pre-dental entrance test conducted by the affiliate universities.

MDS in :

Eligibility:

 

BDS :

  • The candidate must have passed the senior school certificate examination (10+2) of Board of School Education, Haryana or an examination recognized as equivalent to this with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology(PCB) taken together.
  • The candidate must have passed (10+2) examination with English as an independent subject.
  • He/She must have attained the age of 17 years for admission to BDS course on or before 31st December, of respective academic year.
  • The eligible SC/ST, OBC students etc. must submit their scholarship forms for the academic year by February for processing scholarships to SC/ST, OBC students.

Admission Criteria :

  • To be followed as per guidelines to be issued by Govt. of India/D.C.I./Govt. of Haryana.
  • Total number of seats/Total Intake :100

Fee Structure : As decided by State Fee & Admission Committee as per guidelines from Dental Council of India from time time to time. For the students admitted in the academic session 2014-15, the fee structure is as follows

 

For the BDS course : Rs. 2,00,000/- per annum for four years years plus University charges, Miscellaneous charges and Security deposit (as per actual)

 

Hostel Fee : Approx. Rs. 47000/- per annum, including Mess charges.

 

MDS :

A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have a. recognized degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) awarded by a recognized Dental College as per the Dentists Act, 1948 or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained permanent registration with the State Dental Council.

 

Dentistry has entered the era of specialty . The JCD Dental college commenced MDS courses in four specialties from this academic year of 2015-16.

 

Selection of post graduate students :

 

Students for postgraduate dental courses (MDS) shall be selected strictly on the basis of their academic merit.

 

For determining the academic merit, the university/institution may adopt following procedures  for  MDS degree courses:

  • On the basis of merit as determined by a competitive test conducted by the State Government or by the Competent authority appointed by the State Government or by the University/Group of universities in the state; or
  • On the basis of merit as determined by a Centralized competitive test held at the national level; or
  • On the basis of the individual cumulative performance at the first, second, third as Final B.D.S. examinations, if such examinations have been passed from the same university; or
  • Combination of (i) and (iii).

Provided that wherever entrance test for Postgraduate admissions is held by a State Government or a university or any other authorized examining body, the minimum percentage of marks for eligibility for admission to postgraduate Dental courses shall be 50% for General category candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

 

Provided further that in non-Governmental institutions the total seats shall be filled as per directive of the Competent authority from time to time on the basis of merit

 

Period of training :

  • The Course shall be of three years duration.
  • All the students for the degree of MDS are required to pursue the prescribed course for at least three academic years as full time students in a BDS recognized and MDS approved/recognized Institution under the guidance of the Head of the Department, who has to be a recognized postgraduate teacher in that specialty

Hostels : The Vidyapeeth provides separate boys and girls hostel within the campus. They serve to accommodate the students of the campus. However a few rooms are available for visitor and visiting scholars to stay. To ensure the safety and security of the girls, the girl’s hostel is located in the vicinity of the residential quarters of the officers the Vidyapeeth. These hostels have been rebuild, Renovated to international standards for student’s convenience. The rooms are spacious, well-lit and are well furnished. The hostels are provided with sufficient computers with internet facility for academic upgradation of the students.The hostel mess provides clean and hygienically prepared food and pure and safe drinking water to the students by a reverse osmosis water purification system. The rules and regulation vary for each hostel due to administrative and safety reasons. The hostels also have recreation rooms with T.V., newspapers, magazines and indoor sports. Thus, the hostel by every means proves to be a home away from home. Each hostel can accommodate over 1000 students.
