About Us:


National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh, (formerly known as Technical Teachers Training Institute (TTTI)), was established in 1967 to meet the requirements of training polytechnic teachers for the growth and development of polytechnic education system in the northern region of the country. It had the collaboration of Royal Netherlands Government upto 1974. The institute ushered into a new era in November 2003, with its changed name and enhanced status as National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR). It is one of the four national institutes in the country with focus on improving Technical Education in the northern region (comprising the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, National Capital Territory of Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh). NITTTR Chandigarh is an ISO 9001: 2008 certified.

 

The vision of the institute is to dynamically respond, through an integrated package of research and development, education and training and extension services, to the needs of technical and vocational education, industry and community and challenges of advances in technology, including modern communication technology.

 

The mission of the institute is to promote excellence in technical education in collaboration with industry.

 

Broad Objectives of the Institute:

  • To provide professional education and training for teachers of engineering and technology disciplines in technical institutions for advancement of learning towards promoting excellence in technical education and industry.
  • To strive for continuous improvement in instruction and research in engineering and technology disciplines and research in management of technical education.
  • To actively support the growth and quality improvement of technical education in the country through involvement in activities at national and state levels.

Eligibility:


M.Tech. Engineering Education  (for both Regular and Modular) Programme: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology from a recognized University or its equivalent OR Master’s Degree in Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry from a recognized University with atleast 60% marks in aggregate and post qualification experience of atleast 2 years (3 years in case of AMIE) in teaching/industry/research organization.

 

M.E. Manufacturing Technology (for both Regular and Modular) Programme: A Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Technology/Mechanical Engg/Production Engg./Industrial Engg./Automobile Engineering from a recognized University or its equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate and post qualification experience of atleast 2 years (3 years in case of AMIE) in teaching/industry/research organization.

 

M.E. Construction Technology & Management (for both Regular and Modular) Programme: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or its equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate and post qualification experience of atleast 2 years (3 years in case of AMIE) in teaching/industry/research organization.

 

M.E. Computer Science and Engineering (for both Regular and Modular) Programme: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science & Engineering/Electronics Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Instrumentation & Control Engineering/Information Technology from a recognized University or its equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate and post qualification experience of atleast 2 years (3 years in case of AMIE) in teaching/industry/research organization.

 

M.E. Instrumentation and Control (for both Regular and Modular) Programme: A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering /Electronics Engineering/ Instrumentation and Control Engineering from a recognized University or its equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate and post qualification experience of atleast 2 years (3 years in case of AMIE) in teaching/industry/research organization.

 

M.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering (for both Regular and Modular) Programme: A Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from a recognized University or its equivalent with atleast 60% marks in aggregate and post qualification experience of atleast 2 years (3 years in case of AMIE) in teaching/industry/research organization.

 

Duration of the Programmes:

  1. For Regular M.Tech./M.E. Programmes: The normal duration of M.Tech./ME (Regular) Programmes including Thesis will be 2 academic years (4 semesters). The maximum period of completion of the programme including Thesis shall be 3 academic years (6 semesters). 
  2. For Modular M.Tech./M.E. Programmes: The normal duration of M.Tech./M.E. (Modular) Programmes including Thesis will be 3½ academic years (7 spells, each spell of 5 weeks duration). The maximum period of completion of the programme including Thesis shall be 5½ academic years (11 spells).

Reservation:

 

15% seats are reserved for SC candidates, 7.5% seats for ST candidates, 3% for disabled candidates and 27% (including a sub-quota of 4.5% for socially & educationally backward classes of citizens belonging to minorities) seats for OBC candidates as per instructions of Govt. of India applicable to Central Educational institutions.
