NIT-T is in Tiruchirappalli (also known as Trichy or Tiruchy). It is located about 22 km from Tiruchurapalli Jn / Central Bus stand on the Trichy-Thanjavur Highway. The simplest and most economical way to reach NIT-T is by bus. Any city Bus at the Tiruchirappalli Junction will take you to the central bus stand. Board Thanjavur bound route bus. The journey time from Trichy will be around 40 minutes. The executive way of reaching NIT-T will be hiring a taxi.The National Institute of Technology (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) Tiruchirappalli was started as a joint and co-operative venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1964. The college was granted Deemed University Status with the approval of the UGC/AICTE and Govt. of India in the year 2003 and renamed as National Institute of Technology. NIT-T was registered under Societies Registration Act XXVII of 1975.

Eligibility :

B.Tech / B.Arch. : Admission to Undergraduate Engineering/Architecture Programs for the candidates from India at NITs, IIITs, Other centrally funded Technical Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/other Qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main).

MCA : Candidates, with 60% marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor’s degree of Full Time 3 years duration from a recognized University with Mathematics / Statistics / Business Maths. as one of the subjects in any one semester/year, both in graduation and at 10+2 level are eligible. For SC/ST candidates the percentage of marks required is 55%(6.0/10 CGPA). Those candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examinations are also eligible to appear for the test. However, they will have to furnish proof of having passed in the qualifying examination, with 60% marks, at the time of counselling / admission. Indian Nationals only are eligible to appear for the NIMCET
