Now-a-days, the need to have professionally trained manpower to operate Hotel Industry becomes inevitable, as Tourism is recognized as the largest economic activity in the world of Hospitality and is a Key segment of the total travel and Tourism Industry. Demand for well qualified Hospitality Professionals increased when the number of Hotels all around the world increased considerably. Hotel Management & Catering Technology Institutes are the places where a person with attitude is trained to acquire the necessary skills to have a larger career in hospitality industry.

 

The Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, is one such Institute where a person with attitude is trained to acquire the necessary skills to have a larger career in hospitality industry. The Institute was established by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, in the Union Territory of Pondicherry in October 1991 and is now being sponsored by the Government of Pondicherry also with a prime objective of developing human resource for the hospitality industry. Besides, it provides job opportunities to the youth in a wide range. The students trained in this Institute are working all over the country and are working in abroad also. The courses offered in Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management are ideally suited to take up a Career in the Hospitality Industry.

  • Except for B.sc in Hotel Management and Hotel Administration programme, first preference will be given to candidates of U.T. of Pondicherry. Any unfilled seats remaining will be filled up by Other State Students.
  • Admission will be only in the order of aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination and on merit basis only.
  • The communal reservation to the students of Pondicherry will be followed as per the rules and regulations issued by the Government of Pondicherry from time to time.
  • Relaxation in admission criteria and in age will be awarded to the S.C. students belonging to the Union Territory of Pondicherry only.

Campus interviews for Training and Placement were conducted by prominent groups like Taj Group of Hotels, Oberoi Group of Hotels, ITC group of hotels, Grand Hyatt, Zuri group of hotels, Mahindra group of hotels etc., which has resulted in 100% placement. Short term courses under Hunar Se Rogzar scheme was successfully conducted and the targets were met. Exclusive cookery course for Housewives was successfully conducted.

Eligibility:

 

For B.Sc HHA:

  • A Pass in Higher Secondary (+2) in General or Vocational stream with an age limit of (18-22) years. Admission is through Joint Entrance Exam conducted by National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology

For Diploma Programmes:

  • A Pass in Higher Secondary (+2) in General or Vocational stream with an age limit of (18-25) years.

For Other Programmes:

  • A pass in 10th class with an age limit of (18-25) years
