With this background and industrial scenario, Sri Shetty Sangappa Memorial Trust Gulbarga established SHETTY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY at Gulbarga during the academic year 2011-2012.

SRI SHETTY SANGAPPA MEMORIAL TRUST was established during the year 2000. The Institutions under the Trust believe in rich empowerment through Education and service to the fellowmen. By doing the above the trust endeavors in strengthening the students sense of DISCIPLINE, DEDICATION AND DEXTERITY.SHETTY INSTITUTE OF TECHOLOGY (SIT GULBARGA) is one bolder step which the trust has made. It's been a long thought out plan and great deal of energy and effort has gone in the direction of locating the suitable land, preparation of plans of the building, and executing it. The trust has acquired huge tracts of land, as is required by the norms of VTU & AICTE. Architecturally Well planned and aesthetically appealing Building has been put in place. Eligibility :

B.Tech :

• Minimum age for admission to First Year Degree is ordinarily 17 years.
• The candidate should have passed Second Year PUC or XII Standard or 10+2 or equivalent examination (Qualifying Examination) with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry/Bio-technology/Computer Science/Electronics as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study, and should have obtained at least 45% marks in the optional subjects.

Training and placement :

A full-fledged Training & Placement office, is established in the college, headed by Prof. Shahabadkar of Mechanical Engineering Department as Placement Officer. The department periodically plans programs aimed at placing students in various National and Multi-National Companies.The Placement Committee - consisting of the Training and Placement Officer, Placement Coordinators of all departments, the student representatives - works as a team to prepare the students for corporate expectations and to invite corporate sectors to conduct on campus interviews at out college.

• Centre for Social Services : To open up chapters of National Social Service (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC) and others. To arrange for Blood Donation camps, Medical Checkups in association with Lions or Rotary clubs. To conduct cleanliness drives in the campus.
• Centre for Environmental Awareness : To conduct Tree Plantation programmes, to dispose Garbage and Wastage, to initiate the young students towards non polluting environment, to conduct Green Audit.
• Centre for Women Empowerment : To conduct exclusive programme for women, to organize Self Help Woman Group.
• Centre for Health Care : To take care of Student Health. To arrange for Doctors help, to take care of emergencies
