Sri Belimatha Mahasamsthana Institute of Technology (SBMSIT) was established in 1997 under the flagship of Sri Belimatha Maha Samsthana Socio Cultural and Education Trust.   The Belimatha Trust was established in 1975 by Sree Sree Charamurthy Shivarudra Mahaswamiji.SBMSIT Bangalore is recognized by the Government of Karnataka and approved by AICTE New Delhi. In the beginning, SBMSIT was affiliated to Bangalore University, but since 1998 it is affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technology University (VTU). The institute provides a number of modern facilities within its sprawling campus.  The College has all fully equipped laboratories, well-stacked library, workshops and spacious furnished classrooms. The college buildings are architecturally designed meeting functional needs of classrooms, Computer and Electronics Laboratory Library and workshops.

Library: "The library includes large number of books, national and international periodicals in addition to the project reports. The center aims to facilitate production & dissemination of knowledge, information, insights & intellectual contribution in all areas of education among the academic and business community.The library resource center is fully automated and for this we have specialized user-friendly library software. The center has adopted latest information technologies like CD, DVD, Multimedia Kits, Bar-code Scanners, Text and Graphic Scanners. The user community has access to the entire collection through CD, DVD, Hard Disk."

Hostel: Separate spacious hostels for boys and girls are provided with delicious and hygienic catering facilities. A huge playground located right in front of hostel for students. Strict discipline is maintained and monitored by senior faculty member. All round-clock medical facility is made available to the inmates.

Laborratories: "A comprehensive system of laboratories and workshops cover every aspect of academic disciplines. College hosts laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Drawing Studio, Basic Electronic & Electrical, Analog & Digital Communication, Digital Electronics, Microwaves, Advanced Communication, Electrical, Control System, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Thermal Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Network & Circuits etc.
