About Us:

The Missouri S&T campus is accessible, safe and friendly. About 6,800 students are currently enrolled in classes, making S&T big enough to accommodate a diverse population but small enough for individuals to stand out. The student-to-faculty ratio is 16-to-1. A typical class size is 27 students. Many lecture courses break down into smaller lab sections once or twice per week so students can do experiments and explore theories. An average lab section has about 17 students.

On the campus of one of the nation’s top technological research universities, new students discover an academic environment that is hands on, challenging and rewarding. Yes, Missouri S&T has high academic expectations of its students, but we also have one of the country’s highest freshmen retention rates. This is achieved, in part, by making sure help is available to new students who are transitioning to college life. Hit the Ground Running is a three-week summer learning program that introduces new students to college life and gives them a head start. HGR is an excellent way for new S&T students to learn about coursework expectations, campus life and community involvement. Participating students take courses in chemistry, math and English for a 3-hour course credit; learn about research and leadership opportunities; and participate in team building activities and field trips. Participate in HGR and develop your leadership and communication skills, make new friends and master constructive strategies for succeeding academically at S&T.

Living on campus is about more than just having a place to sleep and study. Residence halls, student organizations, and Greek houses sponsor dozens of formal and informal activities each year, including dances, movie nights and more. You’re sure to meet people who will introduce you to new ideas, cultures, cuisines and ways of thinking. This is where study groups are made and life-long friendships are formed. For the first two years, students are required to live in campus-approved housing. The university has six residence halls, two Residential Colleges, many fraternity and sorority houses, and the Campus Christian Fellowship. Some students choose to live in a residence hall or Greek house for the duration of their college career.
